HISTORY

The work that we do is with people of all ages, gender and the BAME community. We are a registered Amateur Boxing Club however, we also have other activities such as fitness classes, health and nutrition. We also work with the vulnerable and have referrals from and work closely with local schools, colleges, Youth Offenders, Police and have our own Ofsted PRU School that opened 4 th January 2022 with only nine pupils but now we are up to capacity of thirty pupils and a Ofsted register of Good, that for a PRU School especially in its first year is amazing. www.prioryparkcommunityschool.com

We also work with people with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and, Physically Disabled and we have first ever registered England Boxing boxer in the world with Cystic Fibrosis that came to us a very poorly child and now can do as any normal 12 year old can do.

In 2018 we were granted the Queens Award for Voluntary Services for our work in the community almost 50 years.

We have also helped others from our club to set up amateur boxing clubs in areas that need the same help as we give our community.

Priory park boxing club was awarded the Queen Award for Voluntary Service in 2018

With both a great history and fantastic record in the sport, Priory Park Boxing Club is still very much part of it's Original Black Country roots situated in Dudley in the Heart of England. The Boxing Club was founded over 50 years ago in the early 70's by the late Terry Seymore as a way of using Boxing to give support and encouragement to the young people and the wider community in the deprived area. We are also in the process of helping to tackle anti social behaviour by working with the local police and local schools in the area.

Over the many years Priory Park Boxing Club has produced some quality fighters including Schoolboy Champions, Golden Gloves Champions, Junior and Youth National champion and Representatives in the England National Boxing Squad as well as CYP Champions (Clubs for Young People). We have also produced many Box cup gold medallists.

Although recently the gym has undergone considerable refurbishment, the club has still been housed on the same site that it was founded on. In the 1980s the club was taken under the management of local trainer and one time Amateur Boxer, Paul Gough. Paul and Steve Gough had big plans and high hopes for the club and in 2016 a new £150000 extension was unveiled.  This included an extra large ring and Functional Fitness Centre.

Because of this Priory Park Boxing offers the finest coaching for both seniors and juniors, from development level upwards. The Club's Boxers regularly compete throughout the year at various events in the UK. We also have regular shows against other clubs in other counties and recently from other countries, also enter every national championship all year round. We are always open and share sparring sessions with other clubs and fighters in the area all in to support unity and progression in British Boxing.

With the new refurbishment Priory Park Boxing have not only improved facilities for its current stable of Boxers but now also offers Functional Fitness to members of the local community. We are not just a club we are a family and you want to join the Priory Park Boxing Family then please get in contact to see how we can help you!!
