This weekend saw Captain G have her first attempt at the Senior Elites championships, where she boxed at quarter and semi finals weekend in Barnsley.

Having only had her first bout 3 years ago and then a full year before her second, really with only 2 good years of boxing behind her, she was probably someone most would overlook. However with a number of Silvers and Golds, and the recent Development Champion, alongside sparring numerous elite level boxers, we knew she would be hard to beat and one to watch, and this proved the case.

Winning on Saturday with a strong and dominant performance, she moved into the semi final against a boxer who's been boxing from schools age. Again G did all the pressing and was dominating the ring, however on this occassion the judges gave it the other way, leaving us frustrated and others wondering how.

However, we take it and move on, and with so many coaches and officials commenting on the performances, we know now we're at Elite level.

This weekend saw Kelsey continuing her journey representing Team GB, in the Gee Bee tournament in Finland.

Having been drawn against a quality boxer who had previously beaten Kelsey and another GB representative at a recent tournament, it was always going to be a tricky bout.

Having come back from round 1 down on the judges scorecards, it could have been easy for her to panic and doubt herself. This time though, Kelsey, readjusted and put 2 great rounds together to come away this time with the win and a place in the final.

The final on Sunday, Kelsey put in a fantastic performance and looked a class above her opponent, which is no easy task boxing at this level. This time Gold was the aim and Gold was the result.

Well done Kelsey, we said the bronze and Silvers would change colour. Your hard work is paying off. More to come.
